Brain Gym and Brain Snacks
Research shows that making healthy choices will help both sides of our brains work together, which, essentially, helps us learn more! Fascinating, huh? This includes drinking water, taking short breaks during the day to do short activities that get us up and moving, and eating small snacks to keep our tummies full and our brains focused. Here is more detailed information about each:
Water-Our brains require plenty of water for connections to work properly. So, our class will be able to bring a bottle of water to drink throughout the day. Please make sure that it is plastic, with an easy-open, easy-close top to prevent spills. Children can be responsible for their own bottles.
Brain Snacks-Rather than each child bringing their own snack, we will all be eating the same thing for brain snack each day. It is amazing how a small snack in the morning can get the energy level back up when the students get a little sluggish. So, if you wouldn’t mind sending in one of the following items occasionally, I would really appreciate it.
o Ritz/Saltine crackers
o Graham crackers
o Animal crackers
o Fig newtons (kids usually like strawberry or blueberry)
o String cheese
o Raisins
o Goldfish
o Pretzels
Of course, I will be understanding of allergies, so if your child has a food allergy, PLEASE make sure I know about it. We will make the appropriate adjustments, so that no one is left out. We do have friends with peanut, egg, and walnut allergies, so please avoid those! Thank you so much!
